Apartment Performance Turns Positive
Apartment performance improved in February, and stability in the multifamily market sharply contrasts with persistent volatility in the broader economy. Rents are showing positive month over month growth, but the market continues to work through excess supply delivered over the past 3 years, limiting rent growth on a national level. Regionally, the story is much different, with apartments in the Midwest and Northeast continuing to show stronger performance, while the South and West continue to absorb new supply.
